Description: This dataset is one of several available datasets related to California counties that were created as a group designed to work in topological sync with each other. Further details about these paired datasets can be found in their respective metadata. Further details about the full process can be found in the GDB container metadata.This specific dataset represents the full US states and neighboring countries dataset. It was originally created by combining the updated California state dataset with other states and neighboring countries obtained by National Atlas. The datasets were combined with topological edge-matching such that the california boundary (24k accuracy) took precidence over other state boundaries (100k accuracy), which in turn took precidence over neighboring country boundaries (10,000k accuracy). In this dataset, most states/countries are single multi-part features, with the exception of California, which includes separate multi-part features for the Channel Islands and Port of Los Angeles.
