Median House Hold Income (MHHI), American Community Survey, Disadvantaged Community
This data contains summary information for Disadvantaged ($56,982) and Severely Disadvantaged ($42,737) communities. The thresholds are derived from American Community Survey 2014-18 (ACS 2014-18) 5-year estimates at the block-group geographic level and the California State Median Household Income of $71,228. Per the California Public Resources Code (PRC), Section 75005(g). ACS 2014-18 data is the most current data available and consistent with the demographics reported in the Community FactFinder tool. In order for others to use the information in the Census MAF/TIGER database in a geographic information system (GIS) or for other geographic applications, the Census Bureau releases to the public extracts of the database in the form of TIGER/Line Shapefiles.
This data is a summary of disadvantaged communities of California, created by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. This data is sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau; it is comprised of Block-group population estimates from the 2010 Decennial Census, American Community Survey (2014-18 5-year estimates), and TIGER. This data was created for use in the CA Parks Community FactFinder Tool, for the latest version of this data please visit https://www.parksforcalifornia.org/communities .
The TIGER/Line Files are shapefiles and related database files (.dbf) that are an extract of selected geographic and cartographic information from the U.S. Census Bureau's Master Address File / Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Database (MTDB). The purpose of this file is to provide the geography for the 2010 Census Blocks along with their 2010 housing unit count and population. Census Blocks are statistical areas bounded on all sides by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and/or by nonvisible boundaries such as city, town, township, and county limits, and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Blocks are the smallest geographic areas for which the Census Bureau publishes data from the decennial census. A block may consist of one or more faces.
