This dataset shows the conveyance waterways and features used to deliver Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA) refuge water supplies by U.S. Bureau of Reclamations Refuge Water Supply Program to the 19 CVPIA wetland habitat areas. This data assumes the likely paths water conveyors use to deliver water per wheeling/conveyance contracts with U.S. Bureau of Reclamations Refuge Water Supply Program or contracts from one of the refuge managing agencies (Grassland RCD, USFWS, CDFW). Inlet locations to CDFW and USFWS lands were verified with respective refuge managers; Grassland RCD data is unverified. Data are sourced from personal communications, project environmental documentation, conveyance contracts, and the San Joaquin Basin Action Plan Implementation Plan. Data does not show all possible or potential conveyance structures or waterways a conveying entity could use to deliver CVPIA refuge water supplies. - Dataset derived from the NHD --The NHD is a national framework for assigning reach addresses to water-related entities, such as industrial discharges, drinking water supplies, fish habitat areas, wild and scenic rivers.
Data was compiled to provide a singular visual representation of conveyance waterways and features available to deliver water to CVPIA wetland habitat area and to which delivery points. The data is intended to be used to evaluate whether potential new sources of refuge water supplies can utilize existing conveyance waterways and facilities. Delivery points are considered by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamations Refuge Water Supply Program as the boundary of wetland habitat areas as described by section 3406(d) of the CVPIA.
- The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system.
