This GIS layer was created to support prioritization of future Arundo eradication efforts. Along with value-ranked stream and terrestrial habitat data, it will be used in a flexible modeling framework to generate suggested "hot spots" or priority sites for Arundo eradication in locations where Arundo threatens sensitive habitat and other resources in need of protection.
This GIS layer consists of points representing Arundo donax observations in northern and central California. It was compiled from data contributed by numerous organizations. Sonoma Ecology Center staff also mapped Arundo infestations with GPS in areas with missing or incomplete information. The primary focus of the data collection was on the San Francisco Bay Estuary and Delta CALFED regions, i.e., waters that ultimately drain into the San Francisco Bay. Data were also accepted from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Region.
