Summary

To provide landscape level information regarding roadkill data in Ventura County

Description

Mortality information for roadkill animals was collected from the Ventura County Animal Control Unit in excel format and georeferenced to provide mapped locations of kills for calendar year 2004. This data set is limited in accuracy level and should not be used on a fine scale analysis.

Tells whether the animal was considered in one of 3 categories, Wild, Interface, or Urban. Urban included dogs, cats, and rats, while Wild included bobcats, bears, and deer. No mountain lion kills are reported in this dataset; however, they have occurred throughout the County. Interface includes animals that utilize all forms of habitat including all other animal species.
